Planning Permission

Planning permission is not generally required for installing or replacing electrical circuits. However, if you live in a listed building you are advised to contact your local planning authority before carrying out any work.

Installation or altering of electrical equipment must conform to the details set out in Approved Document P (Electrics). Find out more about the building regulations by using the links on the left.

Further information

Competent Person Schemes (CPS) were introduced by the government to allow tradespeople to self-certify that their work complies with the Building Regulations. Visit the Competent Person's Register website1.
